NRC-IRAP Quick Facts

1) The National Research Council Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP) was established over 60 years ago to assist innovative Canadian small- and medium-sized SMEs in their R&D commercialization endeavours.

2) Eligibility criteria to the program include:

- Canadian SME;
- 500 employees or less;
- ability and desire to commercialize an innovation.

3 ) NRC-IRAP serves over 90 Canadian communities across Canada, with over 240 Advisors to help client SMEs.

4) There are over 40 Technology and Business Advisors in Atlantic Canada alone who work one-on-one with clients.

5) There are several offices across Atlantic Canada, in 21 communities, strategically located on university campuses and industry hubs to best serve clients.

6) NRC-IRAP's Advisors have a wide array of expertise in several fields ranging from: aerospace technology, agriculture, construction, food growing and processing, forestry, IT, to industrial manufacturing, lean manufacturing, oceans management, plastics, waste management, and much more.

7) NRC-IRAP provides valuable technical advice as well as financial assistance. Client submissions, are studied and valuable feedback is offered in areas of technical, competitive, and business analysis.

8) Client SMEs have access to a nationwide and international network of technical linkages and expertise.

9) NRC-IRAP works with communities and industry associations and organizations in an effort to provide excellent service to its client SMEs.

10) NRC-IRAP works with many public and private organizations in an effort to optimize support to SMEs.
